Monroe firefighter laid to rest after losing battle with cancer

MONROE, OH (FOX19) - The Monroe Fire Department laid one of its own to rest on Friday.

Kenny Ellis lost his battle with brain cancer June 28. He was diagnosed with the illness in April of 2008. The illness caused his retirement from the position of career Firefighter/ EMT with the City of Monroe Fire Department.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Princeton Pike Church of God with a full line of duty honors. A procession then took his body from the Church to Spring Grove Cemetery.

Kenny Ellis is survived by his wife and seven children.
