The new Cincinnati Police Chief will be visiting the city this weekend and early next week.
Chief James E. Craig will be meeting with the Mayor, City Council members, Police Department Command Staff, Police Unions, and members of the City Manager's Advisory Group.
On Tuesday July 12, City Manager Milton Dohoney will introduce Chief Craig in a press conference scheduled at 10:00am at City Hall.
At that press conference Dohoney will announce the date of Chief Craig's swearing-in ceremony.
Chief Craig comes to Cincinnati from Portland, Maine where he served as Chief since 2009. He was born in Detroit and started his 31 year law enforcement career in 1977.
While Craig spent 28 years of his career in Los Angeles, he did a lot of work in helping to curb street gang violence there.
Craig is the first black Chief in Cincinnati Police history.
