Race fans bring traffic to a halt

SPARTA, KY (FOX19) - Fans headed to Sparta for the NASCAR Sprint Car Race Quaker State 400 can expect a long wait in traffic before making it to the track.

The back-ups started around noon on Saturday and will likely get worse throughout the day. Officials say the highest traffic time is within four hours of the race.

Those headed to the Kentucky Speedway can use Exit 55 or Exit 57 on Interstate 71. Non race goers should avoid Interstate 71 if possible and use U.S. 42 as an alternative.

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend this year's race.
