Bengals' Jones: "I'm in a neck brace, how could I resist arrest?"

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Bengals player Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested early Sunday morning at a downtown bar.

Police say the cornerback is charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

According to court documents, police were called to Scene Ultra Lounge on Walnut Street for a fight.

Once inside the bar, officials reportedly found Jones acting out and shouting profanities. He was then escorted outside and asked to calm down.

According to the police report, Jones continued to be disruptive outside, yelling more profanities and causing a scene. That's when police tried to arrest the 27-year-old but he resisted by tightening his arms and pulling away.

Jones was booked into the jail just after 3 a.m. and released around 9:30 a.m.

Jones spoke with FOX19 after being released and denies all charges and accusations. "There's no reason I should've got locked up. No reason," he said. "I wasn't yelling. I wasn't yelling profanities. But at the end of the day, I'm the bad guy."

Jones was wearing a neck brace, as seen in his mug shot, following a recent surgery for the injury sustained in a game last October.

"I didn't resist arrest. I'm in a neck brace. How am I resisting arrest," said Jones. "I just had surgery. So why would I be resisting arrest? It doesn't make sense for me to resist arrest."

This isn't the first time Jones has dealt with Cincinnati Police. Back in 2010, he was detained after being forced by another driver to veer off the road and onto a sidewalk while leaving Paul Brown Stadium. Jones' name reportedly set off some red flags to officers but a short investigation led to his release. Police apologized for the mistake.

He has been in trouble with the law before though. Since being the Tennessee Titans' first-round draft pick in 2005, he has had a series of arrests and suspensions for misconduct.

When asked what he'd like to say to fans about this recent arrest, Jones responded by saying, "I'm sorry. The only thing I can do is apologize."

Jones was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Monday morning, however, the case was continued. A new date has not yet been set.

The Scene Lounge management sent the following statement about the incident:

The events that allegedly occurred outside of Scene Ultra Lounge on the evening of Saturday, July 9, 2011, are unfortunate. The management of Scene will not speculate on what occurred outside of its premises and will not comment on a matter that is the subject of a pending police investigation.

Scene is an upscale, adult oriented bar/lounge that encourages responsible alcohol consumption.
