COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Bond has been set for $1 million for a Colerain Township man accused of beating his one-month-old niece to death.

Colerain Township officers were dispatched to the home on the 11000 block of Gosling Drive due to reports of a man beating his sister's infant daughter. When police arrived at the scene, Lanny Stoinoff, 24, was placed under arrest.

Police say Stoinoff asked his sister if he could hold the baby. After holding the baby for a short period of time, he reportedly began violently beating the baby. Stoinoff's sister and mother tried to stop him, but were unable to and called 911.

According to the 911 call, the baby's grandmother tried to perform CPR. The baby, identified as Roslyn Stoinoff, was transported to Childrens Hospital where she died of her injuries.

According to police, Lanny Stoinoff had recently been receiving psychiatric care before staying with his sister. A family member stated in the 911 call that Lanny had been doing better.

Stoinoff is currently at the Hamilton County Justice Center, charged with one count of Aggravated Murder. He waived his appearance in court on Wednesday morning.

The case will go to the grand jury on July 22.
