CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A Cincinnati man had a change in fortune when he was saved from a gunshot wound by a charm, but then arrested on drug charges.
Police responded to the scene of a shooting on Wednesday evening on White Street. Upon arrival, officers found Carl Berry III, 30, had been shot while sitting in his car.
Berry was not injured because a large metal charm on a chain around his neck was able to stop the bullet.
Investigators began processing Berry's car as a crime scene and found a large amount of crack cocaine lying in the front passenger seat. More crack cocaine was found on the passenger side floor boards. Berry was also in possession of a large amount of cash and told officers he was unemployed.
Officers confiscated 11.08 grams of crack cocaine, $1,610 in cash and three cell phones.
Berry is in the Hamilton County Justice Center, charged with one count of trafficking in drugs.
