CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Walkers of the Purple People Bridge may be surprised Saturday to see some 'unmentionables' hanging along the sides, but the sight is meant to bring awareness about cervical cancer.
"Panties Across the Bridge" is an event organized by the Jaymie Jamison Foundation for Hope.
Jamison was a 34-year-old mother of four who lost her life to cervical cancer, with less than a year into the fight.
The goal of the event is to remind women to get annual exams. Early detection is the fastest way of beating cervical cancer, which kills almost 4,000 women every year.
"Panties Across the Bridge" goes until 6 p.m. with vendors providing information about cervical cancer. There is also live music, food and other family activities.
