Baseball field gets new name and look thanks to Reds pitcher Francisco Cordero

KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

A baseball field at Pioneer Park has been renovated, renamed and dedicated thanks to Cincinnati Reds closer Francisco Cordero and the Reds Community Fund.

The Francisco Cordero Field, as it's now called, was updated with new fencing and backstops, field grading and leveling, as well as new infield dirt and grass. A 100-foot long windscreen bearing Cordero's name will also adorn the outfield fence.

The project was made possible by the Reds' "Home Field Makeover" contest.

In all, the renovations cost about $75,000.
