(FOX19) - Two Cincinnati Bengals are in trouble with the law for two separate incidents.
FOX7 in Austin tells FOX19 police took running back Cedric Benson into custody just before 7 a.m. (CST) in Austin accused with assaulting a family member.
According to the Travis County Jail's website, he is charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member.
Benson attorney Sam Bassett says in a statement the arrest followed "a conflict" between Benson and a male former roommate. Wade says Benson posted a $10,000 bond and was released just before 2 p.m.
The arrest comes one year following another arrest for an alleged bar fight in Texas. The NFL didn't discipline Benson for that incident. He also had two alcohol-related arrests in 2008 as a member of the Chicago Bears, who drafted him out of the University of Texas.
Meanwhile, Benson's teammate, Marvin White, was arrested Thursday in Louisiana according to the website profootballtalk.com. White is charged with one count of simple assault and one count of disturbing the peace by loud and abusive language following an incident at his child's daycare center.
The article states White was at the daycare center to pay a bill for his child when he became verbally abusive with a manger who assumed he was the boyfriend of the child's mother. White was allegedly asked to leave and then started making threats in front of the children and other adults.
White's agent, Kevin Conner, has released the following statement on White's behalf: "I would like to sincerely apologize for the recent unfortunate situation. I have never been arrested during my career in the NFL. I didn't make any threats while I was present at my children's daycare. I have been there on numerous occasions and several autographed photos of myself with my kids are present. In addition, I have been invited by management to engage kids and parents through positive interaction and school activities. I am looking forward to putting this situation behind me."
Both of these arrests come after cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was arrested last weekend at a Cincinnati bar for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Jones is scheduled to be in court Monday for his continued arraignment.
