18-year-old found dead in Batesville home

Batesville police and the coroner are trying to find out why an 18-year-old was found dead in a Batesville home this weekend.

On Saturday, July 16th, at approximately 2:22pm, the Batesville Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting an unresponsive 18-year-old female at 370 Curtis Court in Batesville.

Batesville Police along with EMS responded to the residence and found a female unresponsive and not breathing. There was also no obvious sign of trauma to the female who was identified as 18-year-old Cierra Adams, of Batesville. She was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by the Franklin County Corner.

A death investigation is currently underway by detective's of the police department who spent several hours Saturday interviewing individuals who had contact with Cierra prior to her death. Officers also spent several hours at the residence processing the scene for any items or evidence that may assist with the investigation.  On Sunday, July 17th, 2011, an autopsy was conducted and official results from the autopsy and toxicology reports are pending. The results could take four to six weeks to receive.
