Copper theft delays building rehab project

A rehab project by Price Hill Will is now delayed because of extensive damage caused by a copper thief.

Police were called to the building under construction Sunday morning after an electrician saw what he believed was someone throwing copper out of a window. The electrician had just arrived at the soon-to-be apartment complex to start work for the day.

Police were able to quickly respond to the scene at W. 8th Street and Elberon Avenue. Shortly after arriving, they had the building surrounded and eventually one man was arrested.

Officials report extensive damage was caused to the wiring and the majority of it will have to replaced. Due to the destruction, the project completion will now be delayed.

Price Hill Will is a community development corporation in the Price Hill neighborhoods.
