Covington fire sends one firefighter to the hospital

One firefighter was sent to the hospital after a house fire in Covington.

The fire started just after 4 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Pershing Avenue. It took crews around two and a half hours to put out the fire.

Two people were home at the time of the fire, but they both were able to get out of the home safely.

One firefighter was sent to the hospital with heat related injuries as a precautionary measure. The firefighter has since been released.

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
