JASPER COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - A Sunman, Ind. man was air lifted to the hospital Thursday morning after he was run over by a tractor.

Police say Kenneth Jones, 24, was mowing along Interstate 65 at the 222 mile marker in Jasper County when his tractor suffered mechanical problems.

The rod underneath the tractor that allows the tractor to go forward or reverse had broken. Jones got under the tractor to engage the rod and the tractor moved forward, onto Jones' waist and shoulder area.

Jones was able to crawl away fast enough and not be hit by the mower.  One of the crew members that were weed eating saw Jones lying in the grass at the same time Jones was calling his foreman on his cell phone right after the incident.

Jones is employed by Linkel in Batesville, a company contracted by the state of Indiana for interstate and highway mowing.

Jones was airlifted by Parkview Samaritan and taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with internal injuries. His condition has not been released.
