Public library Summer Warehouse sale set to take place two weeks late

Although the Summer Warehouse Sale is happening two weeks later, this summer, than normal, one of the area's biggest used book sales promises to offer thousands of new items.

The Friends of the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County is hosting the event. The event will start August 25 and continue through August 28. The sale will take place at 8456 Vine Street, Hartwell.

There will be special features for Friend's members. They will be able to attend a Preview sale on Wednesday, August 24, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. They will also get 50 percent off on all purchase on Sunday, August 28.

Friends' members also enjoy many other perks, including shopping at the warehouse on Wednesdays and select Saturdays from July-May, discounts at the Library Friends' Shop, preferred seating at Library programs, and notifications of upcoming sales and other events.

"There are tens of thousands of new items processed monthly at the warehouse," said Anne Keller, Friends' Executive Director. "We'll be closed for our usual Wednesday sales on August 17 and 24 to set up and fill the shelves with items just received. There will be more than 80,000 books and other items, with volunteers working daily to process, sort and price donations. There are plenty of fiction and children's books, as well as nonfiction, self-help (on personal finance, home improvement, and family), and even a few sets of encyclopedias."

They will also be selling CDs and DVDs.

End-of-Summer Warehouse:

  • Thursday: August 25: 10:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, August 26 & Saturday, August 27: 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 28 Noon-5:00 p.m.

Members' Preview Sale:

  • Wednesday, August 24, 5:00-8:00 p.m.
