CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - For the sixth year in a row, FOX19 is helping area youth by participating in the Time Warner Cable Backpack Challenge.
On Friday, there was a special guest at Bridgewater Falls - popular TV host Wendy Williams.
FOX19, Q102, Remke bigg's and Time Warner Cable are partnering with area shopping center locations for a unique "drive by" event where Tri-State consumers can drop off needed school supplies to help fill a school bus.
Once collected, the backpacks will be distributed to needy families in the Tri-State through the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, the Brighton Center and Inner City Youth Opportunities.
The Backpack Challenge has raised school supplies and backpacks for more than 5,000 Cincinnati-area children to date. The 2011 goal is to surpass the 1,623 backpacks that were delivered last year.
Backpacks and supplies are available for immediate purchase at any of the 14 Ohio and Kentucky Remke bigg's locations. Cash donations may also be made at Remke bigg's or here on FOX19.com.
FOX19 Meteorologist Frank Marzullo and Q102's Fritsch from the Jeff and Jenn Morning Show will be broadcasting live at Bridgewater Falls Lifestyle Center on Aug. 12 from 6 to 10 a.m.
