Social service agency wins new car for Meals on Wheels
HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -
Partners in Prime has won a new Toyota Prius to add to its Meals on Wheels fleet.
The senior services organization competed in an online Facebook competition, Toyota 100 Cars for Good, against four other non-profit organizations.
"It took a community effort to make this happen," CEO Steve Schnabl said. "We had seniors here signing up for Facebook to vote and also calling their friends and family across the country. Our staff members worked all day to encourage area businesses, organizations and residents to promote our cause. We feel honored to have such support."
Throughout the day, Partners in Prime led the competition, closing the evening with a 5 percentage point lead at 11 p.m. Voting ended at midnight. Other competitors were the West Texas Foodbank, Virginia Home for Boys and Girls, Triple R Ranch and The Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana.
The arrival date of the new car has not yet been announced, but there will be a celebration when it arrives, Schnabl said. The car will be added to a fleet of vehicles that range from 1994 to 2001 models. This new car will deliver approximately 80,000 meals over the next decade.
