The Mt. Healthy City School District failed to pass the levy that was on a Special Election ballot on Tuesday.
There were 1,878 votes against the levy, while 562 votes were for the levy.
Voter Ebony Mixon told FOX19 that she was an alumnus of Mt. Healthy schools and that her daughter attends now. She wanted to see the levy pass, to ensure that her daughter gets a good education, as she feels she got in the past.
But Karen Bayer shared that she thought taxpayers in general are "pretty tapped out now" and that the schools should find another way to pursue funding.
The levy would have brought in almost $3 million a year to the school district. An owner of a $100,000 home would have been assessed an additional $228 per year to pay for it.
Since the levy did not pass, the school district will now have to make significant budget cuts.
