WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -- The models are open at the Villages of the Streets of West Chester, a long awaited project that officials say will bring new housing options to Butler County.
"This is a dynamic location, this is in the heart of everything here in West Chester," said developer Joe Schwarz, co-owner of the project.
After a slow start, the Villages of the Streets of West Chester has hit the ground running, this week residents can walk through the model three bedroom, 2.5 bath Wexford townhomes, located a few blocks away from the shops and restaurants at the Streets of West Chester"
"It was always the intention of the villages of the streets of West Chester would be a residential component of the streets of West Chester, that the two would compliment each other," said Barb Wilson of West Chester Township.
Township leaders say the modern feel of the town homes, along with the mix of commercial with residential offers an urban feel in a suburban area -- appealing to a younger crowd in West Chester.
"It's a place where young professionals will probably like to live, it's convenient to the streets of West Chester over here, the commercial area, and there are literally hundreds and thousands of jobs being moved into this area," Schwarz said.
When it's all said and done the project will contain 316 units including 60 townhomes, developers Joe Schwarz and Larry Schumacher took over the project after the original developer went bankrupt and Ryan Homes is constructing the units, he says the project is a positive sign for the local economy.
"Sold sides on three of these units already and they're not totally complete, that's a good omen," Schwarz said.
