Theatre alums surprise director at 30 year anniversary

Alumni from the Cincinnati Young People's Theatre surprised its director and founder on stage while celebrating the 30th anniversary of the teen theatre program Sunday afternoon.

Participants from the very first summer along with recent alumni surprised CYPY founder and direct Tim Perrino in stage before the this year's production of Crazy For You.

Since 1982, CYPT has put on 30 summer productions using teens from high schools and colleges all over the region. More than 2,000 actors' dancers, stage managers, technical staff and musicians have participated with CYPT. Some of them have gone on to have careers in Broadway, in national tours, regional theatres, on television or in film.

Eighty teens will be involved in this summer's annual musical, representing close to 40 different schools.
