Two hospitalized after SUV hit by dump truck

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in Warren County that sent two people to the hospital.

The accident happened at about 5:00 pm near Old State Route 122 and Township Line Rd. in Wayne Township. Police say that Stephen Smith, 47, was driving a 2004 Buick Rendezvous east on Township Line Rd. when he failed to stop at a stop sign at Old State Route 122. The Rendezvous was then hit by a 1998 Kenworth Dump Truck being driven by Timothy Miller, 57.

Careflight had to be called to the accident to transport Smith's passenger, Randy Larson, 33. Larson was transported to Miami Valley Hospital. Larson is listed in critical condition.

Smith was transported to the Atrium Medical Center, and then transported to the Miami Valley Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Timothy Miller was not injured at the accident.

While the accident continues to be under investigation, police say that alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.
