MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - The Middletown Police Department has charged the owner of a pit bull after a 6-year-old was attacked by the dog.
At around 8:30 pm Thursday, Middletown Police responded to the 1900 block of Circle Ginny Drive to respond to a report of a child bitten by a pit bull terrier. When police arrived at the scene, they say they found a 6-year-old child with two puncture wounds on the child's shoulder and arm.
Police located the owner of the pit bull, Clearance Viars, who told police that the pit bull ran out the front door. The child reportedly ran away from the dog, which prompted the dog to bite the child.
Police say Viars did not have the state required $100,000 liability bond on the dog.
Viars was charged by police with Improper Confinement of a Vicious Dog, No Dog Licence, and Dog Running at Large. He will be in Middletown Municipal Court August 17th.
