Dalton on Debut: "There Will Be Some Nerves"

The Bengals open the preseason Friday night in Detroit with a rookie under center.

Second round pick Andy Dalton, who is taking the majority of practice snaps in Georgetown, is one of five new starters on offense.

"It's going to be different," said Dalton.  "Everybody is a professional out here, everybody is going to be really good at what they're doing.  My job is to go out an execute and do the things I've been coached to do."

If Dalton wins the job and starts week one in Cleveland, he will be the Bengals first rookie starter on opening day since 1969.

"I'm sure there will be some nerves, but I'll do my best to stay as calm as I can."

Head coach Marvin Lewis would not speculate on how long Dalton will play, but it's thought the rookie could play the entire first quarter, if not more.
