CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The suspect who was shot by Colerain Township police on Thursday has been released from the hospital and was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Miguel Thomas, 28, is charged with one count of felonious assault.
According to court documents, Thomas tried to run over Colerain Township Det. Rick Bernecker with his car.
The incident happened Thursday morning in the parking lot of the Staples store on Colerain Avenue. Investigators say the undercover officers observed suspicious activity by the occupants of a car, so they approached the vehicle and identified themselves as police.
That's when police say Thomas tried to flee by ramming into vehicles, including the officers', and tried to strike Det. Bernecker.
Police shot Thomas, and he was taken to University Hospital, where he was treated and released to the Hamilton County Justice Center at 10:35 p.m. Thursday night.
Thomas was arraigned on Friday morning, and his bond was set at $5,000.
In addition, two other suspects were taken into custody during Thursday's incident. Thomas Kuechler, 32, of Goshen, is charged with drug possession. He also had two outstanding misdemeanor capiases and two traffic capiases. He was released from the Justice Center Thursday night.
Bryan Cox, 25, of Fayetteville, Ohio, was arrested for Possession of a Drug Abuse Instrument, Cox was released from the Hamilton County Justice Center to the Clermont County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding felony Theft warrant.
