Jail escapee caught in traffic stop after 5 years

PRESTONBURG, Ky. (AP) - An escaped convict on the run for five years from a Pike County jail has been caught for not wearing a seat belt.

WYMT-TV reports that 45-year-old Timothy Boyd was arrested on Thursday night after a Kentucky State Police officer who pulled over a car noticed Boyd looking extremely nervous.

A check showed that Boyd had run away from a work release program in June of 2006.

Boyd had only 28-days left on a 90-day sentence when he took off.

Officer Kevin Belcher took Boyd into custody with no problems, saying Boyd told him he wanted to get his life straightened out and put this behind him.

Boyd now faces a possible one to five year sentence for escape.
