It was solid start to the Brenan Kuntz-era at Simon Kenton as the Pioneers picked up a Week 0 win by knocking off Casey County, 34-9. The sophomore signal caller threw for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 10-of-18 passing. Junior wideout Jared Swanson accounted for both touchdowns and 114 yards on seven catches.

The defense also shined for Simon Kenton (1-0), forcing five turnovers and holding Casey County scoreless for over three quarters to finish out the contest.

The Pioneers will look to keep things rolling as they face Beechwood, who had a bye during the opening week of the season, next week at Dixie Heights in a Crosstown Showdown matchup.
