(FOX19) -

According to the Mobile County Sheriff's Department in Alabama, the suspect that walked into former Bengal player, Antwan Deon Odom's home and shot him in the leg has turned himself in.

The home invasion happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of Freedom Lane in Irvington, AL.

Deputies found Odom shot in the upper right thigh. He was taken to the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the suspect, Tony Gildersleeve, a childhood friend of Odom's, entered the residence through an unlocked door and went into the Odom's bedroom and fired two shots with a .410 shotgun. The first shot hit the wall and the second shot struck Odom.

Odom and Gildersleeve wrestled with the gun and Gildersleeve fled the scene leaving the gun behind.

Gildersleeve turned himself in to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office around Noon Monday.

Gildersleeve has been charged with attempted murder. At the time of the shooting, Gildersleeve's girlfriend, Tina Marie Davis, was in Antwan's home.
