Brown announces funding for safety measures at Highland Co. airport

HILLSBORO, OH (FOX19) -

New safety improvements will be made at the Highland County Airport in Hillsboro.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown says new federal resources were awarded to the Highland County Airport Authority & County Commissioners to remove obstructions and improve lighting surrounding the runway at the airport.

"As one of the region's reliable airports, the Highland County Airport is vital to keeping commerce and recreational aviation alive in the region," Brown said. "This funding will ensure that air passengers can travel safely in Highland County."

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration awarded $223,705 to improve safety and efficiency at the airport.
