It was clash of county rivals as the Boone County Rebels welcomed the Conner Cougars. The Rebels used a familiar formula, a powerful running attack and an opportunistic defense, to knock off the Cougars, 19-7.

Senior linebacker Robbie Hilles stripped to ball loose and recovered for a 99-yard touchdown and also intercepted a pass inside his own-five yard line.

Running backs Bryson Thompson and Drew Struck each scored a touchdown and combined for 179 yards on the ground the pace Boone County (2-0).

Drew Barker made his much-anticipated debut under center for Conner (0-1). The sophomore showed some flashes of brilliance, but also made some mistakes. He finished the night with 136 yards and a touchdown rushing while completing 14 of 27 passes for 97 yards.

Boone County stays at home next week as Cooper pays a visit to Owen Hauck Stadium. Elsewhere, Conner travels to Holy Cross.
