GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A piece of the fallen World Trade Center is receiving a permanent home in Green Township.
The 24-foot-long cross beam arrived at the Green Township Administrative Building during a ceremony Friday evening. A delegation of Green Township emergency responders escorted it from New York.
On the way to Green Township, the vehicle carrying the beam blew out three different tires, due to weight.
The steel beam will stay at Fire Station 54 at 5911 Bridgetown Road as a part of a 9/11 memorial.
On Thursday, a piece of the fallen World Trade Center arrived at the Fairfield Township Fire Department. The New York Port Authority donated nearly 2,000 pieces of steel from the World Trade Center to fire departments across the country.
