LEBANON, OH (FOX19) - A motion filed Friday by attorneys for Ryan Widmer says that the state and the defense have agreed on a 90 day extension to file an appeal for his murder conviction.
Widmer, 30, is serving 15 years to life in prison after being convicted of murder in February for the death of his wife, Sarah.
The motion states that the file contains hundreds of exhibits and trial transcripts from all three of Widmer's trials, totaling thousands of pages.
"It is for this reason—the extraordinarily voluminous record—that the State agrees with Widmer's request for an extension," the motion reads. "Likewise, Widmer will extend the same courtesy to the State, if necessary, when the time comes."
The attorney handling Widmer's appeal, Michele Berry, said the court has not yet ruled on the extension, but she doesn't anticipate problems since the state consented.
Defense attorneys originally had a deadline of Aug. 29.
