Patrol finds pot-laced cereal treats during accident investigation

MAHONING COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers found 4.5 pounds of marijuana-laced treats during a traffic crash investigation in Mahoning County, Ohio on August 25.

During the crash investigation, troopers detected a strong odor of marijuana on one of the drivers.

During a probable cause search of that driver's vehicle, troopers found individually wrapped cereal-treats with a strong odor of marijuana. Further investigation revealed that the treats were laced with a liquid form of marijuana.

Patrick Altier, 22, of Boardman, Ohio, was charged with possession of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana, both third-degree felonies. Altier was also charged with OVI.

Altier was taken to the Mahoning County Jail. If convicted he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
