Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth signs contract extension
CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
The Bengals today signed OT Andrew Whitworth to a contract extension running through the 2015 season.
Whitworth (6-7, 335; Louisiana State) is a sixth-year NFL player. He was a second-round Cincinnati draft choice in 2006 and enters this season with 74 Bengals games and 70 starts. He started every game the last two seasons (including postseason) at LOT. He also has served as a team captain.
"Whit is a very fine player and also a team leader, so this is obviously good news for our team," said head coach Marvin Lewis. "It's good to get this done before the regular season begins, and I credit our front office as well as his side for making it happen."
