6 months expected to complete Phase 2 of Wesselman road work

GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners recently approved funding for the Wesselman Road Phase 2A – Contract 1 project.

Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2011 and be completed in February 2012. The awarded construction cost for the project is $1,484,488 and is to be completed by Smith and Brown Contractors, Inc.

This project entails installing 3,200 feet of 24-inch diameter sanitary sewers with pavement overlay and restoration in Wesselman Road from approximately 950 feet east of Rybolt Road to 6261 Wesselman Road in Green Township, Hamilton County, Ohio.

The Wesselman Road Phase 2A – Contract 1 project is part of MSD's Project Groundwork, one of the largest public works projects in Hamilton County's more than 200-year history.

Project Groundwork is a multi-year initiative comprised of hundreds of sewer improvements and stormwater control projects across MSD's service area.

These projects will improve the quality of our lives through cleaner streams, improved protection of public health, and enhance the communities where we live, work, and play.

Project Groundwork's purpose is to make our communities cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable. In addition to being the right thing to do, Project Groundwork was developed in response to federal and state mandates to better manage combined sewer overflows and other storm water issues.
