A local church is trying to reach out to members of the community with a fun family event.
The Corinthian Baptist Church (CBC) says they will host a Community Celebration event on its new property, 1701 Showcase Drive (the old Showcase Theatre in Bond Hill). This event takes place on September 3rd and 4th and allows the church to reach out to Bond Hill residents and the surrounding communities as it prepares to begin working on its new location.
The CBC Community Celebration is free and open to the public both days. It will run from 11a.m. to 7p.m. on the 3rd and 10a.m. to 7p.m. on the 4th. A wide variety of activities will take place throughout the weekend, starting with a ceremony to dedicate the land at 11a.m. on Saturday. The rest of the day will feature food and merchandise vendors, a section for health and wellness, a kid's zone and a showcase of local talent, including the world's largest line dance and ending with a concert by local R&B band 2nd Wind.
"This celebration is about giving back to the community as a whole and reaching out to residents who may not know CBC," said Rev. KZ Smith, Pastor. "It's not just the fact that we will have a new church building. We want people to understand that this is our new home and we are extending ourselves to the community," Pastor Smith added.
On Sunday all are invited to attend CBC's worship service on the property. Immediately following service food and merchandise vendors will be available and CBC members will be doing outreach to community members providing some refreshments such as hot dogs, drinks and snacks. At 3p.m. there will be a gospel concert featuring CBC's own Voices of Corinthian and national recording artist Vicky Winans.
"This is a time for us to come together in fellowship and celebrate our new home," Pastor Smith said. "CBC welcomes the Bond Hill community into our family and we hope this is the first of many activities where we can connect with residents."
