Bengals' Leon Hall signs contract extension for $39 million

Posted: Updated:

According to the Cincinnati Bengals website, Leon Hall, 26, has signed a contract extension for the next five season on Friday at Paul Brown Stadium.

The website states "a source characterized the deal at four years, $39 million, making him the Bengals' highest paid defensive player in history. Reports have put the guarantee at $14 million and he'll get about $20 million this year and next."

On Thursday, the Bengals extended another starter, Andrew Whitworth, left tackle. The Bengals website says the contracts are believed to combine for a double-digit hit under the salary cap.

Carson Palmer is being kept on the roster with his $11.5 million salary in case he reports. Other players on the roster may be in talks for an extension.
