Bengals OL Bobbie Williams Suspended by NFL

The NFL has suspended Bobbie Williams four games for violating NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.

Williams is the Bengals starting right guard.  He will be eligible to return October 9th at Jacksonville.

The Bengals today made the following 27 roster moves in reaching the NFL limit of 53:

* Placed two players on the Reserve/Injured list:

            --LB Roddrick Muckelroy (Achilles)

            --TE Bo Scaife (neck)

 * Placed one player on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list:

            --LB Keith Rivers (wrist)

            (Rivers' injury predates the beginning of training camp, and he has not yet been cleared for practice. He will remain with the team for rehab and meetings, but may not practice. Beginning the week following Week 6 NFL play, he will be eligible to return to practice under a roster exemption. Upon returning to practice, he may work during a 21-day period, the end of which serves as a deadline for his roster exemption, with his status moving forward to be determined.)

 * Placed one player on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list:

            --CB Adam Jones (neck)

            (Jones' injury predates the beginning of training camp, and he has not yet been cleared for practice. He will remain with the team for rehab and meetings, but may not practice. Beginning the week following Week 6 NFL play, he will be eligible to return to practice under a roster exemption. Upon returning to practice, he may work during a 21-day period, the end of which serves as a deadline for his roster exemption, with his status moving forward to be determined.)

* Terminated the contracts of three veterans not subject to waivers, releasing them to free agency:

            --DE Victor Adeyanju

            --G Max Jean-Gilles

            --CB Jonathan Wade

 * Waived the following 19 players:

            --FB Fui Vakapuna (third-year player; Brigham Young)

            --CB Brandon Ghee (second-year player; Wake Forest)

            --QB Dan LeFevour (second-year player; Central Michigan)

            --CB Rico Murray (second-year player; Kent State)

            --TE John Nalbone (second-year player; Monmouth University)

            --DT Jason Shirley (second-year player; Fresno State)

            --FB James Develin (first-year player; Brown)

            --CB David Pender (first-year player; Purdue)

            --DE James Ruffin (first-year player; Northern Iowa)

            --WR Calvin Russell (first-year player; Tuskegee)

            --DT Cornell Banks (rookie; Fresno State)
