The Bengals today made the following roster moves:
* Acquired C-G Mike McGlynn on waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles. McGlynn (6-4, 315; Pittsburgh) is a fourth-year NFL player. He was a fourth-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2008. He played in three games as a rookie, did not play in 2009 due to injury, and played in every game last year, starting the last 14 plus a playoff game at center after an injury to Jamaal Jackson.
* Acquired TE Mickey Shuler on waivers from the Miami Dolphins. Shuler (6-4, 251; Penn State) is a second-year NFL player. He was a seventh-round draft choice of Minnesota last season (inactive for Games 1-2), and he played in six games with two starts for Miami after being claimed on waivers. He had two receptions for 44 yards for the Dolphins.
* Acquired WR Brandon Tate on waivers from the New England Patriots. Tate (6-1, 195; North Carolina) is a third-year NFL player, and he was a standout kickoff returner last year while also playing WR. A third-round pick by New England in the 2009 draft, he was limited by injuries in his rookie year but came back last year to play in every game with 10 starts, plus a start in New England's only playoff game. He had two kickoff returns for TDs last year -- 97 yards against the Bengals and 103 yards against Miami. He was third in the AFC and sixth in the NFL in kickoff returns, with an average of 25.8 yards on 41 attempts. He had a team-leading 18.0-yard average as a receiver, catching 24 for 432 yards and three TDs.
* Waived three players -- TE Chase Coffman (third-year player; Missouri); WR Quan Cosby (third-year player; Texas) and C Reggie Stephens (second-year player; Iowa State).
