Irene debris fills Chesterfield collection site to capacity

Posted: Updated:

CHESTERFIELD,VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield County opened its Northern and Southern Convenience Centers for extended hours and added three additional drop-off sites to enable county residents to drop off storm-generated debris and waste at no charge as they cleaned up their property following Hurricane Irene.

Rockwood Park has reached capacity so the county is closing that site permanently today to further drop-offs.

The two Convenience Centers remain open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily through Sept. 11 for storm-generated debris and waste: Northern at 3200 Warbro Road (off Genito Road) and Southern at 6700 Landfill Drive (off Iron Bridge Road).

Also open to woody debris drop-offs during those same hours are the old Clover Hill High School parking lot at 13900 Hull Street Road and R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks at 201 Enon Church Road.

The county has waived residential disposal fees for storm-generated debris and waste through Sept. 11.
