Police identify man in fatal hit skip; release information about vehicle

WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate what they're calling a fatal hit-skip that happened early Wednesday morning in Whitewater Township.

A man was walking northbound on S.R. 128 near the east edge of the roadway, in the 5900 block of S.R. 128, when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The victim pedestrian in this mornings fatal hit-skip on SR 128, Whitewater Twp., is identified as Mr. Arnold Turner, age 54, residing in the 6800 block of SR 128.  Mr. Turner was an employee of Kissel Brothers Carnival and resided at the residence with other employees. 

Debris was collected at the scene and an investigation by the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit indicates the striking vehicle could be a black (with blue and red pinstriping), late 1990s or newer, Dodge Ram pickup.  Debris is from the grill area, the pickup may also have a damaged bug reflector in addition to a damaged grill.

The pedestrian was propelled forward, landing in a grassy area adjacent to the roadway. The striking vehicle fled the crash scene. The subject's body was discovered by ODOT workers shortly before 8 a.m.

The deceased pedestrian was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. by Dr. B. Ralston of the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. The name of the pedestrian is not being released pending notification of next-of-kin.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit at 513-825-1500 or Crime Stoppers at 513-325-3040.
