Five people have been displaced after a late night fire in Hamilton.
It happened just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Williams Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire companies found fire on both the first and second floors of the home.
It was reported that persons may have been trapped in the structure, but was later discovered that no one was home at the time of the fire.
The fire on the first floor was knocked down quickly and was contained to two rooms. Crews advanced to the second floor and located fire throughout various rooms. Those fires were extinguished and the attic space was opened up to check for possible fire extension.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and a cause is not yet known. Fire crews were on the scene for three hours and the fire caused an estimated $45,000 in damage to the structure and the contents.
