Harvest Home Parade kicks off annual Westside fair

The annual Harvest Home Parade is Thursday night, kicking off the Harvest Home Fair in Cheviot.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Bridgetown Road. It continues down Harrison Avenue before turning left on North Bend Road and ending at Harvest Home Park.

Residents began setting up their lawn chairs for the parade several days ago to reserve a good spot.

The parade kicks off a full weekend of activities, including horse shows, a 5k run/walk, stage shows, art shows, food and rides.

Admission is $5 for adults, with children 12 and under free. Admission is free on Saturday and Sunday until 3:30 p.m.

The first Harvest Home Fair dates back to the 1860's when a farmer had a fair for his harvesting of over 60 acres of land  he purchased in Green Township. The fair has been run by the Kiwanis Club of Cheviot since 1939.

More information on the fair is available at www.harvesthomefair.com.
