Covington's Oktoberfest is this weekend

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

Covington's Mainstrasse Village Oktoberfest kicks off Friday for the 33rd year.

The festival has been named as one of Southern Tourism Society's "Top 20 Festivals for September 2011," one of Top Events USA's "Top Ten 2011 Events in Kentucky and one of   Kentucky Tourism Council's "Top Ten 2011 Fall Festivals."

The festival extends over six city blocks and offers food, drinks, rides, games, live music and works by over 75 artisans and crafters from all over the country.

On Saturday and Sunday, you can purchase an "all you can ride" bracelet for $15. Bracelets may be purchased from opening until 5 p.m. and will be valid until 6 p.m. the day of purchase.

There will be a street chalk contest on Saturday, with cash prizes for adult and children's categories.

Event hours are Friday, Sept. 9 from 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 10 from noon to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 11 from noon to 9 p.m.

MainStrasse Village is located just off Covington's 5th Street exit.
