The Simon Kenton Pioneers squeaked past the Holmes Bulldogs on Friday night at Tom Ellis Field with by the slimmest of margins, 7-6.

The game was scoreless through the first three quarters before Holmes (1-2) took the lead three minutes into the fourth quarter on a 2-yard touchdown run by Charles Knox, but Simon Kenton (2-1) blocked the extra point to keep the lead at 6-0.

Seven minutes later the Pioneers would finally get on the board as Nate Powell punched a score in on the ground from four yards to knot the score at 6-6. Tyler Smith converted the PAT to give Simon Kenton the decisive one-point edge with 2:35 to go in the game. The points were the first scored by the Pioneers in seven-plus quarters of football.
