Students honor victims of 9/11

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Mason High School students teamed up with Kings High School and Mason-Deerfield Rotary for a day of community service. Students organized the September 10th Day of Service to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11.

"I wanted to honor those who died in the twin towers by doing something good in my community," said Mohsin Shafi, MHS Junior.

Students and teachers participated several community service projects, including the Buddy Walk in Downtown Cincinnati and a clean-up at the City of Mason Parks and Recreation Department. Another group served breakfast and lunch at the City Gospel Mission.

The group is honoring two victims of the attacks that were from Mason. Wendy Faulkner was on the 104th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Robert Peraza worked for Cantor Fitzgerald Investment on the 104th floor. His parents are originally from Mason.
