Reds schedule released: Opening day tentatively for Good Friday

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Reds' tentative 2012 schedule has been released by Major League Baseball. It is subject to change.

The 2012 campaign will begin with Opening Day on Friday, April 6, Good Friday, against the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park.

"The Reds already are working with the Findlay Market Parade organizers on Opening Day 2012," said Reds Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini. "No fans look forward to the start of baseball season more than ours."

Some Christian fans are taking exception to the start of baseball season on such a significant day on the Christian calendar.

"We're not wild about a Good Friday, Opening Day either,' said Castellini.

The merchants of Findlay Market, which sponsors the opening day parade, usually close up their shops on Opening Day. If the schedule remains the same, they'll have a difficult decision to make because Good Friday is a high volume sales day heading into the Easter weekend.

You can reserve your seats now for these great games and another exciting season of Reds baseball by placing a deposit on 2012 season tickets now.

By becoming a Reds Season Ticket Holder, you can guarantee huge savings over individual ticket prices and receive plenty of exclusive benefits, including postseason ticket options for next season.
