Honor Flight Program sends veterans to Washington

HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

More than 75 veterans got to take a trip of a lifetime and go to Washington D.C. for free.

The Honor Flight Program is a non-profit organization that honors America's veterans by sending them on a free trip to the Capital.

While in Washington D.C., the vets got a chance to see memorials for World War II, the Korean Conflict, Vietnam, Iwo Jima, and the US Air Force.

"It's a privilege, an honor and I feel guilty because I didn't really go overseas during the fighting but I still went overseas so I appreciate what the rest of the veterans did and I enjoy being with them," said U.S. Navy veteran Bob Flay.

The group left from CVG Wednesday morning and returned later in the evening.

The trip is made possible by the Simply Money Foundation spearheaded by FOX19's own Nathan Bachrach.
