LAWRENCEBURG, IN (FOX19) -
A Dearborn County man is facing numerous charges after a chase and crash.
Early Wednesday morning, an Indiana State Police trooper attempted to stop a 1999 Pontiac for speeding on U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg.
The vehicle attempted to elude the trooper by driving off U.S. 50 at Tanners Creek Drive, where the driver went behind the Arby's restaurant and continued west on the access road toward JTS Plaza.
The trooper briefly lost site of the vehicle and later discovered the vehicle had run off the access road and over an embankment before crashing into a ditch.
The driver, later identified as Joseph Schuler, 25, of Lawrenceburg, attempted to flee on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Schuler was taken into custody.
Schuler refused a breath test and a search warrant was obtained to order a blood test. Once at the hospital, police say Schuler interfered with the execution of the search warrant as hospital officials attempted to obtain a blood sample.
Schuler was taken to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center, where he is facing charges of OVI (refusal), leaving the scene of an accident, resisting law enforcement and obstruction of justice.
