CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The mayor of Milford and a member of Cincinnati City Council spoke out against Issue 2 at a press conference Thursday.

Issue 2 went through the Ohio legislature as Senate Bill 5. The bill passed through the legislature and was signed by Governor John Kasich into law, but the group "We Are Ohio" collected enough signatures to get the issue on the November ballot. Issue 2 would limit collective bargaining for hundreds of thousands of public workers

At the press conference on Thursday, mayor of Milford Ralph Vilardo said, "Firefighters, Police Officers, educators and public employees who are adversely affected by Issue 2 are some the middle class employees who make up the heart of our communities." Vilardo is also a Miami Township firefighter.

Cincinnati Councilman Wendell Young also believes that the bill is unfair, and told the group gathered at the conference, "I urge you as a former police officer, as a former school teacher, not to support this bill."

Issue 2 will be voted on November 8.
