Cincinnati State faculty members reject contract negotiations

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati State faculty members voted to reject recommendations from a state appointed fact-finder for resolving faculty contract negotiation issues.

The faculty members who are a part of the American Association of University Professors, AAUP, voted 169 to 11 to reject the recommendations.

"We understand the College administration's desire to be fiscally responsible—that's what faculty want, too," Paul Davis, AAUP Chapter President, "We believe it's possible to negotiate an agreement that is fiscally sound, and protects the quality of education that students receive at Cincinnati State."

The Cincinnati State AAUP has filed notice with the State Employment Relations Board that if a new contract agreement is not made, they will strike on Friday, September 23 beginning at 7 a.m.

The previous faculty contract expired on September 5.
