CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A Hall of Fame catcher and member of the legendary "Big Red Machine" became a permanent part of Great American Ballpark Saturday.
The brand new Johnny Bench statue was unveiled during "Johnny Bench Night," on the 28th anniversary of his final home run as a Cincinnati Red.
The statue joins similar statues of Joe Nuxhall, Ernie Lombardi, Ted Klususki, and Frank Robinson on Crosley Terrace.
During the unveiling of the statue, Johnny Bench called the moment one of his greatest moments. He also added that he hoped eventually a group of bronze statues honoring other members of the Big Red Machine will join his statue.
